Our History

The Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GHCVB) is re-imagining its mission and becoming an independent trade organization dedicated to supporting Houston’s hospitality and tourism industry.

The GHCVB is now known as the Houston Hospitality Alliance (HHA). The 501(c)(6) organization will be led by a board of directors chaired by Dennis Doherty.

Operationally, HHA will serve as a trade association focused on advocacy for Houston’s hospitality industry at the local, state and national levels. Its unique structure will also help strengthen ties with other industry-related associations in Houston, including the Hotel Lodging Association of Greater Houston and the Greater Houston Restaurant Association.

In 2014 the Houston First Corporation (HFC) assumed full responsibility for the Houston Region’s destination marketing. Since that time, HFC has provided operational assistance to the GHCVB (now HHA) via a services agreement, which is no longer in effect. HFC will continue to...
